Grade 2- Excursion to the Melbourne Wildlife Sanctuary

On Tuesday 29th April 2008 the Grade 2’s at EPS went on an excursion to the Melbourne Wildlife Sanctuary. We split up into our class groups and completed three different activities around the sanctuary. During the first activity we searched through grasses looking for bugs which we caught with bug catchers. We also planted some native grasses which we got to take back to school with us. We explored the sanctuary in our second activity and examined different species of plants and animals that live in the sanctuary. During our third activity we did dip netting where we dipped nets in the water and found and examined different species of plants and bugs.

After we finished our acitivities we went inside and watched videos of nocturnal animals at night. We saw animals such as possums in thier boxes making nests. After watching these videos we got into groups and made our own boxes. We had a wonderful day!

Grade 1 – Excursion to the Botanical Gardens

On the 29th of April 2008 the Grade 1’s went to the Botanical Gardens. We split up into our class groups and spent the day exploring the gardens and participating in a variety of activities.

Exploring the Botanical Gardens 1

We looked around the gardens, taking note of all the different native plants we saw. We talked about how plants that are native to our school might not be native to other areas.
