We use grey water to water our plants.
Today we had to decide whether we wanted to take our plants home. Some people took theirs home and others put the soil from their plant on other plants to help them grow. We really enjoyed doing our gardening and hope we can plant more fruits, vegetables, plants, trees and grasses next year.
What we think about gardening by JSG
“I liked collecting the leaves for the bottom of the foam boxes. I think we should take them home and plant them at home and grow our own vegie patch.” – Callum
“I planted carrots but i think they may die because they look brown and a bit yellow. I think it might need some fertiliser. I have to do a lot of caring because my partner is on holidays. They might survive the holidays.” – Hamish
“My plant is growing really well and i think it needs watering. In my box our scarecrow has been blown over because it was really strong wind in Winter because it rains a lot and it is really stormy. My favourite part was planting the broccoli.”- Oliver
“I enjoy gardening because it makes us learn stuff like how to grow plants and vegies and some fruit.”- Dilllon
“I like gardening because you can have fun and get dirty. And you can eat new things. I think our plants are very dry and need more water so they can grow well and we can eat.” – Duncan
“I like gardening because you can see how big they grow.”- Jack
“JSG has been planting lot’s of vegetables and I’ve been planting carrots. I’m thinking of planting lettuce next year but it’s going to take a long time.” – Jessica
Today the Grade 2’s at EPS started designing the garden the Junior School will be planting over the coming weeks. Using plasticine, we made miniature versions of our gardens including fruit trees, vegetables and even ponds! We started by colouring in a baseboard to make either a vegetable patch or garden that we could put our plasticine models on. Very carefully we rolled, flattened and joined the plasticine to make things like broccoli, lemon trees and pumpkins. After we had finished, we shared our work and what we liked about each other’s garden. It was great to see every one’s different designs. Now we have lots of ideas for planting our garden!
